I spent the entire Black Friday week eagerly refreshing the page, hoping to snag this product on a Lightning Deal. Unfortunately, it sold out in a flash, before I even had a chance to add it to my cart. I was not pleased with Amazon’s handling of the situation, as it seemed they either didn’t have many units for sale at the discounted price or were plagued by bots. I tried calling the customer service twice, spending over an hour combined, but had no luck in getting them to honor the deal, which would have given me a 40% off. Frustrated, I decided to sell off some other sets to be able to afford the full price.
If I hadn’t opened a Prime Card to get a discount, I would have purchased it directly from to earn points for freebies and future purchases. On the bright side, I was pleasantly surprised that Amazon shipped the product in the original Lego shipper box, ensuring its protection during transit. It arrived in great condition.
The unboxing experience was enjoyable, with each of the four inside boxes featuring art and movie quotes about the Falcon. The instruction manual was weighty and well-printed, providing extra content for fun reading. The build itself took me around 20 hours, and I would consider myself an advanced builder. The selection of minifigures included in the set was cool and appropriate, and I recommend creating a display stand for them.
The building process was mostly enjoyable, as it involved a combination of Lego Technic for the interior and shell covering for the exterior and details. The level of detail, size, and weight of the final product is impressive. I believe this set is more suited for display rather than play, and it definitely needs a vertical stand to fully showcase its intricacies without taking up too much shelf space.
Moving the completed set can be challenging, so it’s essential to keep the instructions handy in case anything comes apart. I attempted to enhance the lighting with Lightailing and Briksmax, but found it to be a difficult and headache-inducing process.
Overall, this product is a great addition if you have the means to afford it, the time and space to build and display it, and if you’re content with its limited playability.

Update: After finally building this set, I have to say it is an absolutely amazing build! I want to share some important notes about how the set is packaged. If you decide to purchase this set, pay close attention to the tape that seals the box. One side is red and the other is green, indicating that you should open the box from the green taped side. This ensures that the manual is placed at the top of the box, making it easy to lift out without the risk of damaging any pages. Once you remove the manual, you will find four boxes inside, each containing one-fourth of the Millennium Falcon. Additionally, each box features a quote from Star Wars about the Falcon.
Inside each of the four boxes, you will find sets of bags. Surprisingly, the bags are not arranged in order by box. There are a total of 17 bags for this set. It’s worth noting that the Lego 1989 Batmobile, which has fewer pieces than the Falcon, comes with 24 bags. Each bag is labeled with a number, but there may be multiple bags with the same number, such as four to five bags labeled as bag 1. However, they have thoughtfully kept all the bags with the same number together in the same box. So, you will find all of bag 1 in one box, rather than some bags in one box and the remaining bags in different boxes. Additionally, there are some unmarked bags for larger and higher count pieces.
The first two bags are used to build the frame, while bags 3-9 are responsible for constructing the internal components and the outer outline of the ship. The hull of the ship, both the top and underneath, is assembled in sections independent of the frame. This allows you to set the large frame aside while you work on assembling and installing the hull sections. The manual, as well as videos available on the Lego website, provide instructions on how to carry and relocate the set. It is important to exercise caution when carrying it, as the build’s integrity can be affected, and parts may crumble if mishandled. The top hull simply lays on in sections and has technic pieces that fit into corresponding technic pieces in the frame. The level of detail is truly amazing, making this set more of a display piece rather than one meant for play, like some other Lego sets. There are instructions available for creating MOC (My Own Creation) stands or Lego stands to display this beast on its side, but please note that the landing feet usually need to be removed for this purpose. Additionally, there are plexiglass or plastic stands available for displaying the set. While displaying it on its side may require less space, in my opinion, it looks great in the “landed” position if you have enough room.
Although it is no longer the biggest Lego set in terms of piece count since the release of the Coliseum, it still holds the record for being the most expensive set and may also take up more space than the Coliseum. I haven’t purchased the UCS Star Destroyer, but in my opinion, the Falcon is a much better set because of its internal details. While the Star Destroyer is $100 cheaper and has a higher price per piece, I believe the higher per piece cost is due to the larger number of large pieces involved. The Falcon has much more intricate detailing than the Star Destroyer, making it my top recommendation. If you are a devoted Lego fan and the price is not a concern, I highly recommend picking up this set while it is still available at regular pricing (especially directly from Lego) before it is retired.
I must confess that I haven’t built this set yet. It is currently being saved either as a collectible or as the ultimate build for the perfect time. However, I must say that this set is incredibly huge. The box itself weighs around 25-30lbs. Until the Lego Colosseum was released, it held the title for the largest Lego set by piece count. It may still hold the record for being the most expensive set ever released and possibly the largest in terms of size or diameter. I would need to measure it to be sure, but having over 7500 pieces is truly mind-blowing.
The set comes in a large square box with three smaller boxes showcasing printed images inside. Surprisingly, it only contains 19 bags despite the vast number of pieces. By comparison, the Lego 1989 Batmobile, which has around 3300 pieces, comes with 24 bags. The set includes instructions on how to handle the massive build properly. There are specific ways to pick it up and move it around as it is not designed to be a play set. Some MOC creators have even designed stands that allow for displaying the set on its side, offering better visibility and taking up less display space. This is a viable option for those who wish to take on the set but have limited space for display. I was lucky enough to purchase it at the regular price, as many sellers are now overpricing this set, even though it is still available from Lego and has not yet been retired.

Well, I haven’t assembled it yet, but it arrived sealed and was on sale, something I would have never found in the store.

Where do I even begin with this product? It is truly an amazing build. I had so much fun putting it together and ended up staying up late multiple nights just to work on it. The attention to detail throughout the entire set is astonishing. Every little aspect has been carefully thought out, and it is truly awesome.
To make the building process smoother, I recommend taking lots of pictures along the way. This will help in case you need to put something back or refer to a particular step later on. Be prepared to spend a significant amount of time building this set. I lost track of how long I spent on it, but every minute was enjoyable. I completed it in approximately 13 days, working on it in the mornings, during breaks, and at night after the kids went to bed.
One helpful tip is to get some trays to organize the pieces for each step. I purchased two trays and used one for larger parts and the other for smaller parts. This significantly sped up the building process. I only started using trays on day 3, but it made a big difference.
Another suggestion is to look ahead a few steps in the instructions before starting a new piece or section. Sometimes, the instructions don’t indicate that you need to build duplicates until the last step. Planning ahead can prevent any confusion. This didn’t happen frequently, as most steps indicated when you needed to build multiple pieces simultaneously. However, I did get caught off guard once.
Make sure you have a spacious area to build. I used a large coffee table and kept the unopened bags on the couch. Take caution if you have small children, as there are many small parts during the building process that could be a choking hazard.
Many people asked me why there was so much detail on the inside of the Millennium Falcon since it gets covered once the top is put on. However, each panel comes off, allowing you to see the interior details. You can even choose to leave some panels off if you prefer. I recommend taking pictures as you assemble these sections, so you remember how to put them back together if you decide to remove them. There is a specific order in which they need to be done for all the pieces to fit correctly.
If you plan on getting a stand or case for display, be aware that most of them require removing, if not all, of the landing pads. While this may be a downside, it does help reduce the overall footprint if you want to showcase the set.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this set, especially for Star Wars enthusiasts who enjoy a more complex build. It was incredibly fun to work on, and now I proudly display it in my office!
