I received this kit as a gift for my younger sister and it is absolutely adorable. The only downside is that the instructions can be a little hard to read and some of the steps are a bit tedious. However, despite these minor issues, it still makes for a great little gift.
I was already familiar with the size of the Sakura Bonsai kit, so I knew what to expect in terms of its small size. The only real negative I experienced was with the tube for the vine near the front. It was difficult to keep it in place and insert it into the starting hole.
Apart from that, this little model is perfect as a gift or as a fun decoration for those who enjoy Lego’s blocky botanical style. I also want to mention that both this kit and the Sakura Bonsai are made by a company called LOZ, which is stated on the box and branding of the pieces. However, I’m unsure if the absence of the listing was accidental or intentional.

These blocks are smaller than standard size, so it’s important to keep that in mind. You’ll need soft tipped tweezers to easily pick up the pieces. Because they are smaller, double check that you are correctly assembling the pieces, as it can be difficult to take them apart if you make a mistake.
The pieces come in three bags and are not organized. Make sure to read the back of the manual to ensure you have all the pieces before starting. I recommend using small trays or plates to separate the pieces needed for each step.
I received the wrong piece from a different set, but I was able to make it work by manipulating the leaves. Thankfully, it wasn’t a major base piece and I could live without it for the final decoration.
When you reach the vine, make sure to bend it out and really work it down, otherwise it won’t stay in place. If it wasn’t for the time it took to get that piece to stay in place, I could have finished this set in three hours instead of four.
The instructions can be unclear in some areas due to the angle of the diagrams. I often found myself needing to look ahead and figure out where a piece needed to go in relation to future pieces. If you’re colorblind, especially for red and green, you may struggle since the instructions are only through images and not written.
My major criticism is the design of the base. Some areas are deliberately left hollow, which poses a problem when adding subsequent layers as it becomes weaker and pieces can come apart if you press too hard. Additionally, some pieces are only held down by another piece on top since they’re sitting on a flat piece. It’s important to be careful and realign and lightly squeeze on all sides after finishing a layer.
Considering the price and size, it’s definitely worth it. I built mine live on Twitch and overall, it was an enjoyable experience.

I am absolutely in love with this set. The pieces are smaller compared to regular Lego bricks, but there are a plethora of them! Assembling the set was a bit more challenging than usual due to the smaller size, but that didn’t bother me. The adorable pink color is simply delightful. The final product stands at a modest 3-4″ tall, which was smaller than my expectations (as it was a gift and I hadn’t checked the size specifications beforehand). However, the compact size adds to its cuteness. I can easily place it on my desk without it taking up too much space. I would definitely consider purchasing more sets like this one.
