Building Toy Set: LEGO Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter 75301 – Includes Princess Leia Minifigure, R2-D2 Droid Figure, and Jedi Spaceship from The Classic Trilogy…

All of the pieces were in good condition and the box was undamaged. Assembling the product was both easy and enjoyable. It’s a fantastic addition to any collection.

I was thrilled to hear that LEGO was releasing a more affordable version of Luke’s X-Wing set. The X-Wings from the Sequel Trilogy were a bit too pricey for my liking, but this set allows you to take on the Empire without breaking the bank.
Design:
LEGO did a great job using the pieces to create a sleek version of the Rebel X-Wing. The wings could be a bit sturdier, but that would mean more pieces and a higher price. My only real complaint is that LEGO advertises “retractable landing gear” which unfortunately does not actually retract. It would have been a simple addition, but it’s not a deal-breaker.
Build:
The build was enjoyable and didn’t take up too much time. With around 500 pieces, it strikes the perfect balance for someone who wants to immerse themselves in the build without dedicating 5+ hours. This set would be great for parents or guardians to build with their child. While there are some straightforward moments, the mechanism that allows the fighter to transition from cruise to attack mode (where the wings form an “X”) required some focused concentration.
There were a few stickers, as expected, but they didn’t detract from the enjoyment of the process. It took me about 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the set from unboxing to “swooshing”.
Playability:
The starfighter is easy to handle and perfect for swooshing around. Switching from cruise mode to attack mode is a breeze and can be done with just one finger while engaging in play. The Rebel fighter comes with two spring-loaded shooters that are ready to take down any LEGO TIE Fighters that may appear. An extra red projectile is also included. As always, there’s a spot for R2-D2 to accompany the ride. Besides the spring shooters and the “X” wing formation, there isn’t much else to this set. But that’s all it needs. As a fan of the Original Trilogy, Luke’s X-Wing hits all the right notes.
Display:
The set looks fantastic on my shelf. The only drawback is that the fighter cannot be displayed in its attack/”X” formation without a few extra pieces, but that’s true to canon since an X-Wing can’t land in attack position.
Minifigs:
We get three minifigs and our trusty R2-D2 droid. Luke, Leia, and the set-exclusive General Dodonna all look great, although R2’s head printing is slightly off, but it’s only noticeable upon close inspection. Luke comes with a blue lightsaber featuring a shiny silver hilt, and Leia and the General both sport blasters.
Value:
The average price-per-piece for this set is 10.5 cents, which is excellent for a licensed set. There are no additional builds or “bonus” material, but what we get is very good. It’s a $50 Luke’s X-Wing, something that fans have been longing for. After ordering, assembling, and flying it from my living room to my bedroom, I can confidently say that this set is nearly perfect for LEGO enthusiasts who want a fun and enjoyable building experience without having to take out a second mortgage. Definitely worth the $50 price point.

It’s Luke’s X-Wing. If you know, you know. This set is a great and affordable option, with a genuinely fun and interesting build, and a decent selection of minifigs (including an exclusive one). If that’s what you’re looking for, then the Force is strong with you.
